Christopher Gamao is BEAM Employee of the Year

With his wide knowledge of the project, efficiency and dependability, Assistant Office and Finance Manager Christopher C. Gamao was named the first-ever Employee of the Year during BEAM’s year-end party at Paradise Island. Â
The screening committee composed of Australian Project Director Dr. D’Arcy Walsh, DepEd XI Director and Philippine Project Manager Susan Estigoy, Deputy Australian Project Director and Community Development Adviser Ramon Bobier and Angus Barnes and Kim Oxenbridge from Sinclair Knight Merz chose Chris among the eight BEAM staff nominated by their peers.Â
The Employee of the Year award is given to a BEAM employee, either detailed by DepEd or contracted by GoP or GOA, for his or her exemplary efforts during the year to publicly recognizes a staff employee for his/her outstanding performance. Any BEAM employee was eligible for this award – regardless of position or full/part-time status. The nominee were judged based on their performance of duties, productivity, efficiency, initiative, leadership, knowledge and understanding of the project and rapport with other project staff.
Chris has been involved in implementing education development projects funded by the Philippine and Australia Governments since 1996 up to the present. His particular areas of expertise are on Finance management and administration, resource management, training management and information technology.Â
He has worked with the BEAM Project since January 2003 as a computer operator and then project secretary before taking up the position of Assistant Office and Finance Manager assigned in BEAM’s Cotabato Office. Â
He has also had experience working with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) as Computer Operator from 1994 to 1996 and received a Certificate of Commendation for his exemplary performance during the May 1996 national and local elections. His work in BEAM allowed him to travel around the country in connection with his involvement in implementing foreign assisted development projects for the public basic education sector.
 “I am very happy to be chosen as BEAM’s Employee of the Year. There were other outstanding nominees from other components. I was not expecting to win but I’m thankful that the management recognized my performance,†Chris said when interviewed. The other nominees for the award were Ross Mabanglo, Danny Galarion, Janice Tagubase, Flordy Alagao, Sammy Muda and Judy Rola.
Chris has just recently arrived from a 2-week on-the-job-training at SKM’s Melbourne and Sydney offices in Australia, a prize given by the project’s managing contractor for the award.
